Fun Rome Facts I learned reading Wiki
Did you know that the Colosseum was built by Jewish slaves, with Jewish spoils from the revolt of 70 AD? Ironic that the Vatican is directly across the river. It's like the Jews thumbing their noses at ancient Rome. Granted, it's a stretch. But it's 3:45 and I'm tired so go with it.

Welcome to our Trip!
In September, Stephanie and I will be leaving behind our sheltered lives here in the States and heading off to Europe for two weeks. We have been saving and working toward for this trip for over (just over, but it's over!) eight years now. We've given up a lot of things in our lives to make this happen and in six weeks it pays off.
When Stephanie and I first decided to end our friendship and start to date, I was given a list of reasons why it would never work between us. One of those reasons was my perceived dislike of travel. "I want to go to Europe again, Michael" she told me. And I promised her we would. "Give us a chance and I'll give travel a chance." Well, she obviously gave me a chance (I've got the marriage certificate to prove it) so it's time to live up to my end of the deal.
Don't misunderstand me, I am so anxious for this trip I lose sleep at night thinking about all the amazing things we will see after we arrive in Rome. It's not like this is a hardship!
As we were preparing, Stephanie and I were thinking of ways to share this trip with our friends and family. I suggested Twitter, to which Stephanie asked what Twitter was, so that's out. Instead I'll be getting a cheap-o netbook and carting that around from hotel to hotel. I'll be uploading pictures at the end of the day and writing as much of a blog post as I can. For those with a little more "hipster" mentality you can follow me on twitter @mpckns. I'll have my droid with me and every time I have wi-fi I'll upload crappy cellphone camera pictures and give a little update.
I am so ready for this trip.
